Carved Limestone Tazza Pool Fountain on a Column Pedestal

A wide, shallow limestone tazza raised high on a plain cylindrical column. The underside of the bowl is cut with a full run of gadrooning, and at each end a carved foliate boss swells out beneath the flaring rim. A carved astragal collar marks the joint between bowl and column, and the column stands on a square block set inside a smooth lined pool. The stone is bleached and crusted with age, with heavy lime deposits across the bowl. Its raised profile suits a swimming pool surround, reflecting pool, pool house court or formal estate garden.
